Overview
The System and Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the organization's IT infrastructure, ensuring its optimal performance, security, and reliability. This role requires a strong understanding of network technologies, system administration, and problem-solving skills.
The work is carried out in our modern and welcoming office located in the vibrant neighborhood of Vasastan in Stockholm. The office provides a comfortable and inspiring environment for our employees to thrive. You have the option to work hybrid (office first policy).
Responsibilities
Network Infrastructure:
- Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Configure network settings and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP).
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot network issues.
- Ensure network security and compliance with industry standards.
System Administration:
- Install, configure, and maintain servers, workstations, and other IT equipment.
- Manage user accounts and permissions.
- Perform regular backups and disaster recovery planning.
- Troubleshoot system-related issues and resolve problems promptly.
Technical Support:
- Provide technical support to users and resolve system-related issues.
- Assist in the deployment and maintenance of software applications.
Integration:
- Integrate various systems and applications within the organization's IT environment.
- Develop and maintain APIs and integration frameworks.
- Ensure seamless data flow and interoperability between systems.
Security:
- Implement and maintain security measures to protect the organization's IT infrastructure and data.
- Monitor for security threats and vulnerabilities.
- Respond to security incidents and implement corrective actions.
Business continuity:
- Develops and maintains disaster recovery plans
- Ensures data backups and system redundancies
- Minimizes downtime during system failures or upgrades
Cost-effectiveness:
- Optimizes IT resources to reduce unnecessary expenses
- Implements efficient systems to improve productivity
- Prevents costly downtime and data loss
Scalability and growth:
- Plans and implements IT infrastructure to support business expansion
- Ensures systems can handle increased workloads and user demands
Performance optimization:
- Monitors and fine-tunes systems for peak performance
- Identifies and resolves bottlenecks in IT infrastructure
Strategic planning:
- Aligns IT infrastructure with business goals and objectives
- Provides technical expertise for decision-making on IT investments
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in system and network engineering.
- Strong understanding of network technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, routing, switching).
- Knowledge of server and workstation operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux).
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills
- Certification in network engineering (e.g., CCNA, CCNP).
- Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
Security tools and concepts: firewalls, intrusion detection systems, encryption, access control
